June 19 of this year, the Lord finally said yes to my prayer of coming home to the Philippines after 2 long years of being miles away. Oh! the life of an OFW! I truly know now how it feels. My feelings of excitement and total happiness soared high as I was already taking my domestic flight bound to Cagayan de Oro. I couldn't put myself into a nap inside the plane. All I can about are thoughts like "How do my parents look now? Did they age a bit? a lot? How about CDO? Has it improved since I left? I can't wait to eat lechon! and a lot more!"
I was totally relieved when the plane finally landed safely at Laguindingan Airport. Oh! Thank you Lord!!! I am finally home! Thank you for bringing me back home safe and sound and so happy! At last my long wait for this moment has come to an end. As I was pushing my luggage cart going out of the airport I saw the huge smile of my sister and my teary-eyed mother waiting expectantly for me. Tears were about to flow but thank God it didn't. I was able to hold it back because I was just magnanimously happy at the sight of my sister and mother. Then I hugged them tightly. Minutes later, I saw my father and my brother helped me with my luggage. When I entered my father's taxi, that's when I knew, I was finally home. It's not anymore a wish and a prayer but a reality of being home at last. Thanks be to God for his goodness and love for me.
First stop, we enjoyed our first sumptuous meal as a family at Panagatan Restaurant. Then, I enjoyed relating to them some of my experiences as teacher and how life is in Thailand while enjoying the food. My parents did age. The reality of aging hit me. However, I am glad that they are healthy and happy. So so happy that I am home and sharing a meal with them. I felt like it's been a very long time since we shared a meal altogether. Let me share photos of me and my family on my first day of vacation.
